The Seventh day of the First month has a number of symbols, which relate to the salvation of mankind. We see that in this first week the Seventh day of the First month was also on a Sabbath. The week (and the Sabbath) is listed with the Feasts of God in Leviticus 23:1-3. This shows a direct connection between the week and the Feasts. Leviticus 23:1-3 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are my feasts. 3 Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings. (NKJV) God says the Sabbath day is a day of rest. We are to work six days as God did in the creation account, and rest on the seventh day. The Sabbath, as we are told, is to remind us of the Lord’s rest at the end of the creation week. This is important to the Plan of Salvation. The text shows that the Sabbath pictures God’s rest and the completion of an aspect of His work. Genesis 2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made. (NKJV)
