The Steve Biko Foundation (SBF) is pleased to be hosting the 04th Annual Steve Biko Centre Ginsberg Easter Festival from the 18th – 21st April 2014. As part of the Festival, on April 19, 2014, we will be hosting two Dialogue sessions, one will be a final round of debate for high schools in the morning from 09h00-12h00, the focus of their topic will be the exploration of whether in this 20 years of democracy can young people say has there be any dramatic changes in education in South Africa. This proved to be an interactive and robust session between these participating schools if we are to judge from their first round. The second part of the session will feature very high prominent and eloquent speakers and academics who command the deserving respect in the field. Their session similarly to the first one will be interrogating the following topic, “INGABA KULAMASHUMI MABINI EMINYAKA YEDEMOKRASI SIKWAZILE NA UKUPHUTHUMA UDLWENGULO LWEENKUMBULO SABOYISA NA UBUNXAXHA?” • Kwiilwimi Zethu • Kwezenkcubeko • Kwanokubhaliweyo “IN THESE 20 YEARS OF DEMOCRACY DO WE THINK THAT WE HAVE MANAGED TO RECLAIM OUR STOLEN MEMORIES? “ • In Indigenous languages • Culture, • Literature & Orality Despite the fact that the first session will also be graced by learners and teachers from the participating schools, as the Foundation we hereby kindly and humbly invite students and lecturers from your institution to honour and grace this event. Thus, as SBF we intend afford participants an opportunity to explore and to speak to contemporary challenges and opportunities facing them as we celebrate 20 years of our democracy. In this way, the Foundation seeks to inculcate in contemporary generations: an accurate comprehension of their history and an appreciation that their heritage endows them with the ability to be active agents in their own lives and in the lives of their communities. Date: Saturday, 19 April 2014 Time(s): 09h00-12h00: High Schools Final Debate 12h00-13h00: Lunch 13h00-15h00: Expressions of Identity Dialogue Venue: The Steve Biko Centre, One Zotshie Street, Ginsberg, King William’s Town.
