The Truth About Tithing vs. New Testament Giving God is pushing me to deal with this and expose the lies that we have been told for CENTURIES concerning tithing, because it is misrepresentation of God and His REVEALED Word. The issue of people teaching folks stuff that God didnt really say is nothing new. Paul dealt with this very issue with the Galatians. In Galatia, there were folks teaching new converts that they needed to be PHYSICALLY circumcised according to the LAW, in order to be saved. Does that sound familiar? Once again, someone decided that it was a good idea to reach back into the law to justify their own righteousness. Heres what Paul had to say about that: Galatians 5:1-6 NIV - It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the WHOLE LAW. You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Did you get that? Paul called the teaching of circumcision according to the law SLAVERY. And that is precisely what it is! The law brings bondage! That is ALL it can accomplish. Paul knew this, and he was CLEAR about his position concerning the law, and what place it had in the life of the New Testament believer. Paul was a Pharisee of the Pharisees. If anybody knew the law, Paul DID! But because of the Holy Ghost, God gave him the revelation that we are now made FREE, being justified by FAITH! No one could keep the WHOLE law! And the law could only show us how sinful we were. But it also resulted in spiritual bondage. Heres the issue with the tithing doctrine that WE teach today: it is a gross MIS-representation and MIS-characterization of God, His INTENT, and His will for us as it relates to being blessed by Him. And it completely voids out the FINISHED work that Christ accomplished on the cross for EVERY believer! Once again, are we under grace or the law? We cannot exist under BOTH. To say that we must reach all the way back into the Mosaic Law and resurrect the TITHE, and then have the audacity to RE-activate a curse of this law that has been BROKEN by Jesus, Himself, on the cross for us is a blatant lie! If we teach that tithing is MANDATED and a COMMAND by God to us TODAY, then we MUST also teach animal sacrifice and everything else that came with the Mosaic law! You cannot pick and choose what part of the Mosaic law that you want to keep, to only satisfy your religious agenda, and then turn around and lie on God and deceive Gods people in the process! Tithing in the Old Testament was a TAXATION and it had a purpose. It was CREATED and ESTABLISHED by God, Himself. And He had very specific reasons for doing this, all of which is clearly outlined in Old Testament scripture. The answers are all there, but no one wants to talk about those because to do so will expose the lies that we have been telling on God. God wants us to GIVE! That is absolutely in order! But to bring His people that He has set free back underneath bondage to the law is A SIN. We need to really stop and think about what we saying and WHY we are really saying it. There is SO much information that folks dont tell you about the the tithing doctrine. Many have purposely left it out. WHY? Because they know that if they told you the truth, you would figure out that it doesnt add up! Period. You cannot just lift out ONE scripture of out the OLD TESTAMENT and build an entire doctrine around it that does not exist. Werent we given a NEW COVENANT? Then we take this erroneous teaching and turn around and CONDEMN people, call them disobedient and basically tell them they are going to hell if they dont do it! God did NOT say that! To continue to teach this is an affront to God. You are lying on God. Plain and simple. People of God, you have been deceived. Ill deal with more of the details and truth concerning the depth of the deception of the modern day tithing teaching. Just know, it was brought back for the sole purpose of supporting a religious machine that God did not create. That is THEE truth. Stay tuned...
