The Value of Time ~ An amazing poem by a Brazilian poet, novelist, art historian and critic, musicologist and photographer, Mário Raul de Morais Andrade. I counted my years and discovered that I have fewer years left to live compared to the time I have lived up until now. I feel like a little kid who won a bag of lollies; the first he ate quickly & eagerly, but when he realised there were only a few left in the packet he begun eating them slower, appreciating and savouring each one... I have no time for endless meetings where statutes, rules, procedures and regulations are discussed, knowing that it will achieve nothing at all. Neither do I have time to tolerate unconscionable and irrational people who despite their chronological age have not grown up. I dont have time to bicker with mediocrity. I dont want to be involved in meetings where inflated egos parade. I wont tolerate manipulators and opportunists. Bother me envious people who seek to devalue and discredit the competent ones in order to usurp their positions, talents and accomplishments. People no longer discuss about the substance...forcibly, they discuss titles. I detest to witness the ill effects of battles amongst ambitious people for the highest office. My time is too precious to waste to care about and discuss titles. I want the essence, my soul is in a hurry. Not many treats are left in the packet. I want to live among true, humane people. People who can laugh at their mistakes; who do not become full of themselves because of their triumphs; who do not consider themselves elite, before they have really become one; who do not run away from their responsibilities: who defend human dignity; who dont put money as their first priority in life; people who do not want anything else but to walk along with truth, righteousness, honesty and integrity. I want to surround myself with people who can touch the hearts of others. People whose hard knockouts in life taught them how to grow up with just a soft touch of the soul. Yes, I am in a hurry, but only to live with the intensity which only maturity can offer you. I dont intend to waste any of the treats I have left. I have no doubt that most of them will taste much more exquisite to the ones I have eaten so far. My goal is to reach the end satisfied and at peace with my conscience and loved ones. I hope yours is the same, because the end will come anyway... ~ Mário Raul de Morais Andrade ~ P.S. Dont take life foo seriously, because either way, none of us will come out of it alive!
