The White elephant in the room that neither political party wants the public to realize is the baby boomer phenomena. The Boomers have been the greatest economic demographic group in the history of the US. They grew and in some cases exploded the economy over every life-cycle of their maturity. Just read Harry S Dents work on this phenomena. The problem now exists that the US government never planned for the end game of this demographic group. There are now 10,000 boomers per day turning 65 and this will continue for the next 14 yrs. This is a fiscal reality that Social Security and Medicare cannot sustain. SO the government is trying to put together plans that have no chance of success but need to cut the boomers at the knees with. Obamacare is simply a pained plan to fail into a single payer system which can insure that the boomers have their care rationed and lower the incredible costs of the boomer generation that the government is so poorly prepared for. Everything was great when the boomers were creating the economic prosperity but not so good when the time came for them to take out of the economy for their end stages of life. The biggest problem facing America is the boomer end game and there are no solutions in place.
