The activists willfully put the vigil at risk by installing a tent and chairs. Unlike Thomas, the founder, they valued their own comforts, and desire to taunt the police, more than the presence of the vigil. Pitiful. The Park Police have bent over backwards over the years, as long as the vigiliers (of which I was Thomas requested replacement for 2.5 years) observed the immensely special and privilege rules for the vigil. I did, and received nothing but cooperation and respect from the Police. Childishness, self-indulgence, lack of responsibility on the part of the vigilers... has its price. IF they were truly Peace Activists they would blame themselves instead of the police. Oh, and uh, there is this little thing called global warming. The years others of us did the vigil it was often COLDER than this winter - no tent, no carelessly leaving sleeping bags evident. NEGLIGENCE, RECKLESSNESS on the part of the activists. Infantile.
