The anti - establishment liberals of the 1960s now use all the tools used by the establishment they abhorred. People mock and disdain the hippies, but the thoughtful among us, even back then, understood that ideology didnt matter unless there was integrity ... more than integrity, a remaking of ones character. Now the Progressives are as brutal, powermad, and unjust as they once accused conservatives of being. People mock or wonder at penitential associations of Catholics. But the gravity, the impossibility of being a man as good as my family, community, parish, chaptet, or order need me to be makes cheerful and hopeful penitence seem the only reasonable thing to do. Here the paper which with supposed nobility led the charge against Nixon hires a squad of muckrakers to put Officer Wilson under the kind of scrutiny for which they would sue anyone who used it on them. They have been seduced by vainglory and power, against which may God deliver us. I, blind as I am, have seen far too much blindness.
