The back-story to my getting this: Groves Tequila Guy, after approving of my initiation into sippin tequila via Tres Generaciones, told me that for the price, Maestro Dobel is the best tequila hes ever had (though he also admits to preferring the plata (or silver) tequilas to the reposados or anejos--hes not a fan of the peppery and wood-y quality of the latter two. And, Maestro Dobel is on sale now. So, why not? The clerk at the register looked at it and said, Thats good tequila. So, my underinformed opinion on this: Its definitely smoother than the Tres Generaciones Reposado I had before--its kind of fruity to begin with, and with a sweet-ish finish. It still has plenty of the peppery quality, though. Id buy this again, though Ill be trying others after Im done with this bottle.
