The beautiful thing about the growing libertarian element of the Republican party it that it reaches across class lines. It unites rich and poor alike under an umbrella of common respect for individual rights and freedoms. The pitch to the libertarian poor goes something like this: You will respect our freedom to exploit your labor, paying you less than the value of what you produce. The surplus, which we will call profit, will allow us few to live in relative leisure. You and your kids will serve our food, collect our trash, detail our cars, and clean our toilets. You will work long hours, without benefits, for a subsistence wage, and you will thank us for not giving your job to someone else. You will drive our children to elite private schools that yours will never attend, assuring that we can continue this arrangement in the next generation. In return, we will fight for your God given right to buy an overpriced gun at Walmart and play with it on your day off. (If you shoot yourself or your neighbors, fear not, we can make many more like you.) You can marry and smoke whomever and whatever you want, so long as you dont demand a fair wage. When you get sick, we will respect your freedom to figure that out on your own. Those namby pamby liberals want government bureaucrats to make choices for you, but we think youre smart enough to choose for yourself. So, you may choose to work for us, on our terms, or you may choose to starve, its entirely up to you. A mighty wind is blowin, man, and its called freedom.
