The best weight loss plan is not a weight loss plan at all. Results from any course of action are only as sustainable as the course of action that produced them. Thus extreme and restrictive approaches will inevitably fail. If you cant sustain the approach, you will not sustain the results. This is well documented, and is the reason that not only do most diets fail, but they actually backfire and lead to further weight gain. A weight loss plan usually involves restriction of energy intake, restriction of food choices, increased energy expenditure and a test of discipline or will power to adhere to such arduous conditions. This is a poor, illogical and destructive strategy regardless of how commonly accepted it is. Assuming you do indeed have an excess of weight from adipose stores, the best way to lose that weight permanently is not to think of how to lose weight. It is to think of how to get into and maintain a great, strong and healthy condition. This can not be attained through destructive means on a slash and burn approach. Without setting any unrealistic standards, train and fuel to maintain something closer to your ideal goal condition. As your performance and strength increases and your body prioritises the maintenance of lean mass (muscle and bone density), the excess weight will come off of its own accord as you are neither inactive enough nor overfueled to allow it to remain.
