The biggest problem of modern civilization is its refusal to accept the authority of God. People have become so materialistic that they cannot accept anything that exists beyond their sight. They have become so self-centered that they think that the objects of their sense perception are the only reality. However, they do not consider that the closest things to their eyes, their eyelids, they cannot see. They cannot even see their own face. To see such objects they need a mirror. Similarly, to know about the reality that exists beyond our sense perception and to see the things that are beyond our sight we need to receive proper information from an authorized source— someone who has seen the reality, a bona fide spiritual master. He not only opens our blind eyes with transcendental knowledge but also anoints them with the love of Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
