The blizzard kept us off the road this year, so we wont be spending Thanksgiving visiting my friends son in prison in PA. Nonetheless, I had errands to do involving filing an appeal for child support pro se before the deadline, which is next Monday. Then, for some reason I decided it might be kind of fun to go to the Mall and walk around. It made me feel unspeakably sad to see all the merchandising. There was nothing I wanted to buy and if there would have been, Im sure I could not have afforded it. So we left. Im sitting here at my computer tonight. My friend went out for some flavored beer. Im surrounded by countless clothing catalogs that have been repeatedly sent to me in the mail over the past 2 weeks. I have been so busy with school theyve gotten underfoot and now I might break my neck slipping on glossy pages in the wee hours of the morning on the way to the bathroom. Sanity, people? Cant we have some?? Right now, somewhere in America theres a manager who just got fired from Pizza Hut because he wouldnt force his colleagues to work on Thanksgiving. When did the holidays become all about buying stuff? God. People. Dont buy ANYTHING this weekend. Dont go to Black Friday events. Just stop. Stop the madness. Please.
