The busy season has started at the shala. October to March. The molestations and gropings by Indian men of female yoga student walking around Gokulam have started yet again. Not new news, but very disturbing. The police are aware and informed and have more patrolmen around Gokulam, but the problem persists. Even though were trying to raise awareness, a lot of the women who are being preyed on are brand new to India and Gokulam - first timers - so are unaware of the need to be careful and vigilant even in a seemingly friendly neighborhood like Gokulam. What more can we do, particularly to help raise awareness among new yoga students coming to Gokulam? Can you all tell your students and fellow practitioners before they arrive to be careful? Could your yoga teachers in Mysore make announcements to new (and old) students to take care? All ideas are most welcome.
