The casts ability to organize and act to enforce national law is, I suppose, commendable (and pretty creepy). In any case, for a state to police and regulate what women wear and for its citizens to fervently enforce such laws is old-school oppression. It deprives women of agency and makes their bodies (and presentation) open to institutional scrutiny. This is, in principle, no different than a theatre cast in Tehran or Riyadh or Jerusalem expelling a woman for wearing jeans or shorts, deeming such clothes exploitative or oppressive. #DoMuslimWomenNeedSaving
