The city of Oakland contracts with A & B Towing Co., they towed our van recently. They want $800 dollars to get the car back -- ridiculous -- so we can go to the lein sale and pick it up for whatever the bid gets to -- awesome. I go reading the reviews and i pick up this: Under Assembly Bill 2210 (Goldberg, Chapter 609, Statutes of 2006) protects consumers against the worst of illegal towing. Under AB 2210, if you spot a tow truck driver taking your car, and the tow truck is still on private property, the driver must release your car to you unconditionally. A tow truck operator who violates this law is subject to a civil misdemeanour, a fine of $2,500, and/or three months in jail. Also, consumers who can prove they have been charged illegal or excessive towing or storage fees are entitled to recover four times the amount of those fees in small claims court. --MARK P. AND I used to work for A & B Towing. I can tell you that if Bills son Jerry still works there that you are probably right when you say that items were stolen from your vehicle. If Bill himself is still alive Id be shocked but hey, if you have the $$$ then doctors will work their behinds off to provide expensive treatments to keep your behind alive. Bill has a contract with the City of Oakland because he lines the pockets of the politicians. Check the public records to see his donations. This crap has been going on for more than 25 years. The cost to get your vehicle back is ridiculous and until YOU people out there stand up and say ENOUGH to your political representatives, then you should shut the heck up. Those who stand by and watch evil individuals ply their trade are just as guilty as the evil individual. Me, I moved so I dont have to deal with Bill.
