The coming days/month is really rich liturgically. First, September 29, we have the Feast of the Archangels. We need the help of this powerful Archangels. Then we land in the “grand slam” month of October, month of October devotions (to Our Lady and St Joseph)! We all really need to begin now to make plans on how we are to be part of this annual spiritual “grand slam” and show of love to Our Lady – she whom, according to the Holy Spirit (Who certainly inspired the Scripture), all generation must call blessed. Some Feast in the month of October we may need to take note of. October 1 is the Feast of Our Lady, Queen and Patron of Nigeria. We need to pray for our country, we need to pray for our leaders and for ourselves. October 2, will be the Feast of the Guardian Angel. Do you know you have a Guardian Angel? Do we pray to our Guardian Angel? Do we make USE of him? “My Angel shall go before you” (Ex 23:23). October 4 will be the Feast of St Francis of Assisi. Our present Holy Father, Pope Francis, took his name from this holy man. We can ask him to intercede for the Pope and for the Church. “God make us instrument of Your Peace”. October 7 will be the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. The Battle and victory of Lepanto which took place on 7 October 1571 can still be repeated today if we can heed Our Lady’s call and pray the Rosary. October 16, we celebrate St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. We know mostly for her Devotion and institution of Devotion to the Sacred Heart. October 18, we celebrate St Luke – a Physician by profession, the Author of both the Gospel of Luke and Acts of the Apostles. October 20 will be Blessed Daudi Okelo and Jido Irwa. Both are Martyrs from Uganda. They belong to the Acholi Tribe. October 24 – Feast of St AnthonyMary Claret, founder of the Claretians. October 28 will be Sts Simon and Jude, Apostles. Surely there are other Feast days, please check them out. Besides, I hear the Holy Father will likely consecrate the world to Our Lady come this October 13 (???), we keep that in mind and pray along. May Our Lady intercede for us all
