The company my husband works for is based in Israel... We are so grateful to have made so many good friends from there over the last 4 years. This past week they moved the companys entire management meeting (originally scheduled in New York) to here in Dallas to accommodate my husband following his cardiac event and subsequent surgery. While hosting our Israeli friends a few days before the IDF mobilized, we discussed the current state of things and I was humbled by the very real concern expressed about the potential lose of life on either side of the border. After they departed and headed back home to Israel I downloaded the Red Alert app to my phone. It alerts you each time a missile is fired into Israeli air space. I did this only so that I would have a genuine understanding of how often my friends are running to bomb shelters each day. Well, let me tell you... It is all day everyday. It is in the middle of the night all night. Imagine for a moment running to shelters with your children and elder parents, neighbors, or strangers 36 times in a day. Keep in mind that Israel is roughly the size of New Jersey. How many times a day do you suppose we would allow hostiles to fire missiles into New Jersey??? Imagine for a moment that the young woman in this video is YOUR daughter on her way to work this morning. In the time it took me to write this post the sirens have gone off 5 separate times. Awful.... just awful.
