The correct conceptual understanding of the Deen is very important - TopicsExpress

The correct conceptual understanding of the Deen is very important not only because it strengthens oneself as a dawah carrier (caller to Islam) by providing the individual with confidence and concrete views, but also because it presents the correct and most effective leadership for others to embrace and follow. You will find many people following scholars or ustaadhs by rushing to their circles purely because of their titles or that they have Mufti placed before their name, but a simple wise man who maybe from a poor background, who is a statesmen that carries pristine ideas and presents a shining example of a leader is regrettably shunned and disregarded. People may say that there are evidences that talk about the greatness of scholars in general and the blessings they entail but this is from the perspective of reward and not necessarily that they hold the correct conceptual understanding. There are and always have been scholars that were misguided or sold-out that have existed and continue to exist so even then we cannot accept simply for their credentials. None are infallible after the Messenger of Allah (SallAllahu Alayhi Wasalam) and so there is a reason to assess and scrutinise what they are saying even though they have studied the sciences of the religion at depth. Following anyone after the Prophet (SallAllahu Alayhi Wasalam) is conditional i.e that they speak the truth and carry the correct understanding of Islam. Likewise on the other hand, we also find some people wishing to aspire to becoming a scholar purely for its title and the respect gained from it without deep thought. For such people, there is no embodiment of a strong conceptual understanding that scrutinises matters deeply and solves them accordingly. They therefore see leadership in these titles and other superficialities. We have many scholars today alHamdulillah that have studied Usuul, Fiqh, Hadeeth, Tafseer, Quran, Tajweed and Arabic (much more than us) yet upsettingly, many remain silent to the atrocities occurring in the Muslim world by its rulers and influentials (citing evidences like those who are silent are saved) and many present facile solutions (sometimes reprehensible views) to the problems we face. Even after this, we still give them leadership and blindly follow them in their misjudgements and erroneous viewpoints solely due to these labels. Overall, the danger of this mindset is that its bearer would grant leadership to learned scholars who may have misunderstood the problem and or present incorrect or simplified solutions. The correct leadership to embrace whether it be yourself or presented by another, is the leadership that is based upon a intellectual premise that scrutinises the root problem in a deep manner and presents the solutions to it accordingly. Grant and embrace the leadership of those that embody Islam as an ideology, a comprehensive rational doctrine that comprises of solutions that solve human problems and a systemic method of administering them... even though they may not possess the nugatory or inconsequential titles granted by governmental academic institutes.
