The documentary, 1994 The Bloody Miracle, is factually - TopicsExpress

The documentary, 1994 The Bloody Miracle, is factually traumatizing- to some of us this is tantamount to double-taxation. I have many stories to tell but this one tops the list. I cannot remember the year, but I think it was during the early 90s. KwaMashu township provided that era with a theater of death. The township planners who came up with the entry and exit route to and from the township, were inspired by Satan himself. The entry point from Newlands East was punctuated by a strong Inkatha presence from a small but very irritating squatter settlement, Siyanda. The other point was dominated by yet another strong IFP aligned hostel dwellers. We were literally between the rock and a hard place. Like Israel of old, during these political confrontations, no economic activity, which involved transportation and visits to town, let alone work, would take place. Taxis had to pass Siyanda and trains the hostel. One gentleman from Siyanda (IFP) had just visited his rural home during those spatial days of peace. He, like many from Siyanda, would use our township transport system , be it trains, buses or taxis. On this fateful Sunday afternoon, on his way back to the informal settlement, knowing little or anything at all about the spades of confrontations that had taken almost a dozen of lives. He passed unawares of the thickness of anger in the air. He met his death at the hands of young, angry youths, who had just witnessed their dead loved ones taken by Caspers to the nearest public mortuary. He was killed violently and ruthlessly beyond any imaginable description. His legs were opened wide, chopped alive with an axe- they needed his private parts- and all this operation had to be executed while the man was still alive. I had nightmares as a result of that experience. I havent fully recovered. I saw fats- human fat. Lastly, they burned him and the smell was the opposite of the sweet aroma one read about from the Bible.
