The eighth annual ploughing match held in Ballynure recently marked the start of a new season. The competition was organised by the Ballynure Vintage Tractor Ploughing Society, one of the province’s youngest societies, on the lands of Mr and Mrs Stanley Hall. With weather and ground conditions ideal, it looked as though the local ploughmen couldn’t wait to get back in action, with the match attracting an encouraging turnout of 35 entries. The event was kindly sponsored by Jack Millar; Andrew Maybin; D J McKee and family; D J McKee and Sons Ltd; Dennison Commercials; Frankie Davidson; McAnally Auto Repairs; Murray Elliott; James Buchanan; Jackson’s Butchers and Bakery; Martin Mehaffey, Alan Beggs; Robin Jenkins; Six Mile Valley Potatoes; Carryduff and Omagh Auctions; Joe Maybin; Erskine McIlwaine Commercial Repairs; Clare Trailers; James Boyle; Lismenary Motors and R & K Blair.
