The fact that DeBlasio felt the need to call a press conference to - TopicsExpress

The fact that DeBlasio felt the need to call a press conference to demand the respect of his subordinates is an even clearer indication that he has not the faintest notion of leadership. He has not earned the respect that he is groveling for nor is he worthy of it. In fact he seems to take great pains to demonstrate his unworthiness whenever possible. This is a man whose contempt for the police cannot be stifled; a man who surrounds himself with those who seem concerned only with out-hating each other where the police are concerned as is evident by their words and deeds. This is a man whose own wife held the police as well as all New Yorkers in such contempt that when her determination to retain her chief of staff, who lived with a murderer that writes prolifically (if not eloquently) of his hatred for police officers, became untenable, she gave us all the finger by hiring two women to replace her at twice the salary. Yesterday, she may as well have worn a red dress to Police Officer Lius funeral. Today, he treats the police department to a lecture on manners. This bizarre performance this afternoon was like watching some sort of interpretive street theater where the actor was giving his impression of a narcissist in the midst of unraveling. I would compare him with Captain Queeg but Captain Queeg at least put in a lifetime of honorable service before he lost his mind. I believe that the only thing left for the Mayor to do is to try to finish his term while pretending the Police Department doesnt exist so he can make millions lecturing to sycophants in the Ivy League. With his crazy performance this afternoon, the stream he was hoping to ford between his administration and the Police Department has turned into an ocean. Bratton may turn some screws to get the numbers up out of the cellar, but the respect ship has undoubtedly sailed.
