The farrier came today to trim the boys feet. Got to the big guys turn, and Barrons was having NONE OF THAT. Is it possible to be 5 YO and never have a foot trim? Jee-zowie. His feet are in rough shape though so I guess its not impossible. And he did seem clueless about why this crazy guy was trying to lift his feet. Our farrier is fearless and kind and loves our horses and is real good to our guys when he comes out. Hes quick and efficient and remembers all their foibles and quirky behaviors. And he uses every second he can find to take opportunities to teach us something new. I thought if anyone could handle the big guy it would be him. No dice, though. So we have homework to do to teach him to lift his feet before he comes again in 5 weeks. Any Draft Horse tricks you wiser folk can impart on me for how to get a 1 ton animal to lift up his feet in a mannerly way?
