The fire continues burn in the Blackheath area but it is within containment lines. While fire activity is relatively benign at this stage, under strong winds conditions can change. Current Situation Firefighters are continuing work to contain the fire that has burnt more than 2,600 hectares. There is still active fire in area to the south of Hartley Vale (near Mt York) to the west of Lawsons Long Alley. There is also the potential for spot fires into the Grose Valley. Blackheath, Mount Victoria may come under threat if fire advances beyond current control strategies with predicted weather conditions. Areas that may come under threat are Mt Victoria, Blackheath, Shipley, Hartley Vale, Little Hartley, Megalong Valley and the Kanimbla Valley. A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Illawarra / Shoalhaven and Central Ranges areas until further notice.
