The fire will not consume you By: Josh Clevenger Daniel 3:27 English Standard Version (ESV) 27 And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the kings counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into fiery furnish for not worshipping the God’s of the country that were put before them. When king Nebuchadnezzar saw that there was a fourth man in the fire with them he called them out of them fire and realized the fire had no affect on them. The scripture says the fire did not harm them and they did not even smell of the fire that danced all around them in that moment. In life, we will find ourselves in similar situations. We will not be in a literal fire but we all have gone through very difficult times that have tested our faith to our nature limits. The fourth man in the fire was the Lord. You will never go through a situation where the Lord is not with you. You may feel the situation will over take you but remember that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not even smell of the fire that was trying to consume them. You will come out of your difficult situation not even having any permanent scares from your trial. It will be as it never even happened but you will have the wisdom from the situation. The Lord will never lead you down paths in life that He is not willing to go Himself with you. He will protect you and supply your need in time of great despair. I see people in great despair in the ministry and I have been in great despair in my life. In those moments, God has never forsaken me and I have never seen anyone forgotten by God. It is impossible for Him to forget about you and let the situation overcome you. He will never lead you to a dead end and He will never overwhelm you. You may be in the fire but the fire will not consume you. You will come out of the fire and have no signs of being in it. The Lord is there for you today and all you have to do is remember the promise made to you on the cross. The completion of your salvation is a deposit for a security in this life. You are a co-heir with Christ and your future is secure in Him. Rest in the favor of God because the fire will not consume you today!
