The first free app Id like to highlight is a real treat. The app - TopicsExpress

The first free app Id like to highlight is a real treat. The app is universal and has a huge variety of activities to help children develop and practise skills to do with fractions and times tables. You cant pick which activities to do: they pop up randomly. What I love about it is that the activities are brilliant, there are three levels of difficulty, you can sign in multiple players and the feedback is very supportive. What I mean by that is that when a child gets the answer wrong, they receive feedback that indicates they have made a mistake and, more importantly, a clue as to why they are wrong, which can help them arrive at the correct answer. They also get to try until they get it right. There is a lot of visual support, and children see times tables and fractions represented in lots of different ways. It requires iOS 6.0 so wont work on the original iPad, but most other devices will be fine. https://itunes.apple/au/app/love-to-count-2.-times-tables/id897094226?mt=8&uo=4
