The first time I read media reports about Ebola was in the 1980s. At the time, African people were spreading suspicion that something had escaped from a laboratory in northern Congo. They suspected that scientists from an advanced western country were experimenting on African people. Similar such reports cited western doctors who were alleged to have been experimenting on African people with HIV in Zambia and Uganda. Somehow, some African people have become suspicious of western intentions on the continent.
