The following is very important regarding our office. As of November 24, 2014, our office will no longer be prescribing pain medications beyond anti-inflammatories. This comes as a federal law is being implemented that requires chronic pain medications to be prescribed by a pain management physician. This is a federal regulation, and is thus out of my hands. Despite that Id rather maintain my patients within my office, this is something I must comply with, as will all family physicians, or we will face punishment. We are currently working to get all patients requiring these medications referred to pain management. Thank you for understanding, and please know that Im unhappy about this, as well. ADDENDUM: If you dont require pain medication prescriptions on a month to month basis, youre likely to be UNAFFECTED by this new legislation. Also, this only affected controlled narcotics, such as, but not limited to, hydrocodone, oxycodone, tramadol, etc. ☺
