The following post is written to be an overflowing of gratitude for our 21st season of theatre in downtown Reno. We have been so blessed by the actors, directors, artists, creators, staff, board members, volunteers, patrons, funders and supporters for our 21st season at Bruka Theatre so exceptional. We started the season in October with Creature and wove our way through our first small theatre festival - Pieces Of Eight, Buttcracker 5 - Pirate Booty, Stage Beauty, The Lyons, Les Liaisons Dangereous, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Five Lesbians Eating A Quiche. Stage Beauty enjoyed incredible costumes rented from The American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco thanks to generous donors and theatre artists Michael and Diane Peters and our incredible costume artisan Lady Hull. 007 Bohemia - To Reno With Love gave us the opportunity to open mic and create together in one evening with our audience and artists. We also enjoyed wonderful Artistry at Bruka - our Artist In The House classes with Lady Hull - costuming, Holly Natwora - Viewpoints, Tony DeGeiso - Dramaturgy and Directing, Mary Bennett - Improvisation and Alexander Biber - Dance for the Actor. Our Theatre for Children and The Pioneer Youth Performing Arts presented our very popular Goldi (which continues to tour.) And this years Bruka Summer Theatre Camp made a wonderful version of The Princess and The Pea - or A Day In The Life Of Brukleton - creating and performing the show in 2 week intensive. We were honored to have Sandra Neace as our Artist In Residence, working with various high schools and their students creating original scripts as a collaboration with VSA Arts and The Kennedy Center. We created the first episode in our original Late Night TV Show - Lounge Dreams and we launched Bruka Prom with the support of Cathexis, the song stylings of Caitlynn Collins our prom committee and the fabulous participants in the roaring 20s theme. We played with the Utility Players in Game Show at Goodluck Macbeth and our community and business partnerships with The Nevada Arts Council, The City Of Reno, The Wild River Grille, Java Jungle, The Riverwalk Merchant Association, Dana Nollsh - Zen Photograpy, The Carson City Ghost Walk, The Brewery Arts Center, Reno Pride, Reno High School Booth Street Players and RATA who are just a few who help keep us on the map. We also received best theatre and best actor awards from the community through Reno News & Review. We continue our commitment to develop our art, artists, our purpose and our audience with a strong devotion to our mission (To Create And Share The Experience Of Innovative Theatre), the art, the community and the passion that keeps us making stunning theatre experiences. We will be announcing our 22nd Theatre Season in a few days on this page and our web site. We are blessed. We are proud of this work and we are extremely thankful. We are looking forward to the future so heres to the 2014/2015 season!!
