The idea of a Chinese Lantern Festival resulted from a conversation I had with Bill Crowell the first of January. The custom of the Lantern festival is to mark the end of the Chinese lunar New Year 15 day celebration. Wikipedias describes the origin of the festival to likely have had something to do with celebrating and cultivating positive relationships between people, families, nature and the higher beings that were believed to be responsible for the bringing or returning the light each year. So celebrating the Lantern Festival, cultivating all things positive, and launching a hundred lanterns is sure to be spectacular and a befitting way to honor Kathleen Carson. 3 ft Eco friendly Heart shaped (red and white) flying lanterns are available for purchase for a minimum $5 donation. All proceeds will benefit Kathleen Carson. Kyotos is providing egg rolls and fortune cookies for purchase, as well as McGourtys is offering specials. Dean Trakas has volunteered to play music. More plans are still being made.
