The inaugural Red, White and Blue Gala and Golf Tournament benefiting T.A.P.S. (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) is set for Thursday and Friday of this week. TAPS is an organization dedicated to helping families cope with the loss of a loved one who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. TAPS has been able to help more than 200 Kern County families, event chairman Jim Tague said. The inaugural gala will feature a dinner at the Crystal Palace on Thursday, May 1 followed by a special golf tournament, Friday May 2 at the Bakersfield Country Club. TAPS President Bonnie Carroll,and Navy SEAL and author Rorke Denver will be guests of honor at the dinner Thursday.
