The issue she brought before the Parliament is about her mother in-law and her domestic assistant (a girl in her late teens). Her mother in-law has been living with her family in the city since the past SIX MONTHS following a plea (from her husband) for Mama to change environment. She didn’t mind but the woman’s presence in her home has become more of stress to her. The domestic assistant is a girl that has lived with her family since she was barely 12years old (but now 18years old) and they never had major issues with the girl until Mama came into the picture. Mama’s first influence in her home was making the domestic assistant unserious-towards her responsibilities in the house. She spent all day watching AFRICAN MAGIC with Mama-as soon as she and her husband leave the house in the mornings. She comes home to discover that most of the chores she asked the girl to do are left undone. Recently, Mama and the girl have been coming to her with tales about each other and she instantly knew that both of them are no longer at ease with each other. For example, the girl tells her that Mama spends a reasonable time of every day on the phone-calling her other children to report everything about her to them-from the type of food she serves her to the very little time she spends talking with her(even when she comes back from work). Meanwhile, Mama comes to tell her that all the girl does every day (the moment she and the husband are out of the house) is hanging around the neighbourhood with her boyfriends (with whom she’s usually seen talking and laughing at street corners) and that the girl also takes her foodstuffs to those boys. She is confused about what to do with these complaints and the husband has told her that he is not interested in getting involved in the drama. Friends have told her that the easiest way to regain peace in her home is by sending Mama back to the village and leaving the girl that assists her with domestic chores (and minding her kids) behind or getting rid of the girl, employing someone else and leaving Mama behind-just to avoid making enemies with her in-laws. She is also considering getting rid of the two of them so that she can have her peace…she has asked the parliament to ADVISE her.
