The law, part 3 yesterday, we saw Romans 3 verse 23, for all have sinned, However, with one exception, the man Jesus Christ. We stayed in Acts 15 verse 2, the dispute over the law, according to which would also apply converted Jews and Christians. When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them , they determined that Paul and Barnabas , and certain other of them , should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question . In Jerusalem, there was much dispute, verses 6 and 7. After Peter had spoken, Barnabas and Paul, verses 7 to 12, took the floor, James, verses 13 to 18. He was the leader of the Jerusalem church, and so had a special place. His words were of decisive importance in this discussion about the meaning of the Act, for the nations. His great zeal for the law, was clear to everyone. If he said that the nations did not have to keep the law, that would silent all zealous for the law . James, first, refers to the report, that of Peter , that God , at first did visit the Gentiles , to take out of them a people for his name , verse 14 . He confirmed this act of God, with a quotation from the prophet Amos. Then he comes to his judgment, which reads : Wherefore my sentence is , that we trouble not them , which from among the Gentiles are turned to God . By not trouble, he means the imposition of the yoke of the law. The nations have their own place in the ways of God, apart from the obligation to be Jew, and keep the law. By not trouble, he means the imposition of the yoke of the law. The nations have their own place in the ways of God, apart from the obligation to be Jew, and keep the law. Following this judgment, Jacobus is filed, the outcome of the consultation, in a letter to the brethren of the Gentiles, verses 22 to 29. The conclusion of the meeting in Jerusalem, is clear: the law does not apply to believers from the nations, but only for Israel, the people, to which is given the law. We read about the Gentiles , Romans 2 verse 14 , For when the Gentiles which have not the law , do by nature the things contained in the law , these having not the law , are a law unto themselves . The Gentiles had no part of anything, of what God had given to Israel , Ephesians 2 verses 11 and 12 , Wherefore remember , that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh , who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands : That at that time ye were without Christ , being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel , and strangers from the covenants of promise , having no hope , and without God in the world . The law, and Israel belong together exclusive, see also Acts 7 verse 53, Romans 2 verses 17 to 20; Romans 9 verse 4 and Ezekiel 20 verse 11. A combination of Law and peoples, is not found in the Scriptures. Just a note in between: It is good to note that the situation, which is described in Acts is a transitional situation. God endured there that Jews who became Christians, were themselves remained abide by the law. He has tolerated this behavior, until the year 70, when conquered, the Romans Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple. Thus, there came an end to Jewish worship. In the municipality, which includes, of all true believers, is in fact not a Jew nor Greek (ie Gentiles), because they are all, without distinction, one in Christ Jesus, There is neither Jew nor Greek , there is neither bond nor free , there is neither male nor female : for ye are all one in Christ Jesus , Galatians 3 vers 28 and Colossians 3 verse 11 . Tomorrow part 4 looking back to Acts 15 verses 7 till 12 .
