The magic of Legos The kids & I have been cleaning old toys out of the basement, including a large box of Lego Duplos that is almost right for their cousins. The box had sat open for quite a while near the woodstove & the pieces were grubby, so I wanted to clean them up before passing them along. I discarded several ideas before deciding to put the pieces into a couple of pillowcases, tie them off & run them through the gentle cycle in the washing machine. I broke them all apart for maximum surface exposure, sorted them by size and ran them through. This morning, I dragged the wet pillowcases out to the yard to dump the now-clean contents onto a tarp to dry in the sun. The Legos are nice & clean, but at least 1/3 of them had re-assembled themselves into clusters during the washing process! I think they are ready to be played with again ;)
