The monthly 2nd class railway pass fare from Thane to CST is Rs. 190. That is just Rs. 3/- per day one way for more than 30 kms. Same distance travelled by BEST Bus will set you back by Rs. 50/- which is 17 times more. Same distance by black yellow taxi is Rs. 500/-, I.e. 100 plus times more. Railways is just asking you to pay Rs. 6/- instead of Rs. 3/-. Usme bhi itna drama !!! The real villain here is the Congress government who did not raise fares for 10 long years. Had they raised 10% every year, the fares today have been Rs. 10/- instead of the Rs. 6/- proposed now. But they played politics of appeasement to the detriment of the general public.
