The net assets of the pension funds reach BGN 7.6bn at end-June The net assets of the pension funds of the second and third pillar increased by BGN 330m from end-March to end-June to BGN 7.6bn. The net assets of the universal pension funds (mandatory for people born after 1959) rose by BGN 286m QoQ to BGN 6.1bn, the net assets of the professional pension funds (mandatory for employees working under difficult conditions) increased by BGN 26m QoQ to BGN 719m and net assets of the voluntary pension funds grew by BGN 18m to BGN 726m. Over the second quarter, the investments of the pension funds in government bonds increased the most – by BGN 248m, most likely as a result of the participation in the auction for €1.5bn Eurobond, issued by Bulgaria at the end of June. The investments in equities also increased by BGN 148m over the quarter while the investments in corporate bonds added BGN 57m. Bank deposits and cash balance, on the other hand, declined by BGN 113m and BGN 69m, respectively to a total of BGN 1.2bn. Source: FSC; FFBH
