The new Microsoft Xbox One surpassed first-day sales of the previous Xbox 360 setting a sales record for Microsoft. The Xbox One went on sale in 13 countries and sold more than a million consoles in its first day of sales. Production issues kept the Xbox One from being sold in 8 countries that got cut from the original first day sales list. The console market shrank 32% between 2008 and 2013. The Playstation and Xbox are constantly competing for customers. Playstations new PS4 goes on sale in a few weeks in 30 countries. The Xbox sells for $100 more than the new Playstation. Microsoft rose 0.5 percent to $37.57 in New York and has gained 41 percent this year. Sony American depositary receipts fell 1.9 percent to $18.30.
