The newly appointed caretaker chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Mr. Abiola Makinde has embarked on the evacuation of refuse in Ondo town, headquarters of the council area. Speaking with journalists while supervising the exercise in company of senior officials and staff of the Health Department in the local government, Makinde stated that the exercise was part of the determination of his administration to ensure that the environment is kept neat at all times in order to forestall any outbreak of epidemics. While noting that the importance of a healthy society cannot be over-emphasized, the Ondo West Council boss explained that the exercise which would be held regularly across the council area, was geared towards promoting the welfare of the people. He solicited for the cooperation and support of the people stating that his administration would continue to implement more-people oriented programmes that would add values to the lives of the citizens.. The chairman who also used the occasion to supervise the control of traffic in areas covered during the exercise assured the people that his administration would accord priority towards smooth vehicular movement by ensuring that effective traffic control mechanism are effectively implemented. The Osemawe and paramount ruler of Ondo kingdom, Oba Dr Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, has advised the newly appointed caretaker chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Mr. Abiola Makinde to give priority attention towards the development of the council area during his tenure.. The monarch gave the advice when the chairman paid him a courtesy visit in his palace in Ondo town. While congratulating Makinde for his appointment, the monarch advised him to regard the appointment as a call to service to his fatherland and enjoined him to use the period of his stewardship to add values to the community. Oba Kiladejo listed areas that require urgent attention in the community to include evacuation of refuse and indiscriminate pasting of posters. While praying for the success of the chairman, the traditional ruler used the occasion to call on all the staff of the local government to support the administration in its task of moving the council to greater heights. He assured him of his support and promised to continue to identify with the council in its developmental activities.. Similarly, the monarch also reminded workers of the council on the need for them to always be punctual, rededicate themselves towards their work by participating actively in activities that would move the council forward. He urged them to be patient with State Government saying that their salary which is yet to be given to them would be paid as soon as the verification exercise currently going on in the state is concluded. Responding, the caretaker chairman, Mr. Abiola Makinde thanked the monarch for the reception and advice given to him. While assuring the traditional ruler of his commitment towards the development of the council area, Makinde however solicited for the supports of the Osemawe and his Chiefs in the task of realizing his vision in the council area. The Ondo West Council boss commended the monarch over what he observed as peaceful atmosphere in the community and reiterated the commitment of his administration towards ensuring accelerated development of Ondo community. The occasion was attended by many important dignitaries from all walks of life including some members of the Osemawe-in council, serving supervisors in the Local Government, community leaders, members of the political class to mention a few.
