The one that got away for Tucker! Richard Tucker had learned the long and difficult role or Arrigo in Vepri Siciliani, and was to perform it 6 times at the Met in March of 1975. Sadly, he passed away in January of that year, and never got to sing this role. He did, however, often do the long tenor aria, "Giorno di pianto" in recital often. Here he is in Carnegie Hall in January of 1973 showing how it should be done at 60 plus!! This taxing piece has two high B naturals at its conclusion! Tucker still rules as the leading tenor at the Met and around the world. youtu.be/IV8UzRrIeuU
