The other day there was the annual balloon toss. Most of the contestants were 20-30 somethings... most of the girls were in bikinis. But at one end was a couple who were in their late 70s, everyone figured they would be out early. They werent. When the round came to turning your back to your partner and throwing the balloon over their heads, everyone was sure they would be out. They survived that round... and the next round. Soon it was down to 7 couples. The crowd started to cheer for Gone Fishin, the words on the husbands t-shirt. In the finals, it was the bikini clad against Gone Fishin and his wife (dressed in a one piece and sheer red beach cover up)... you could feel the tension in the air as people quietly chanted gone fish in. Yes, sports fans... Gone Fishin and his wife won the balloon toss! The crowd went wild. Many people went to congratulate the couple...which in all my years covering this event I have never seen done. When asked the secret to their upset, the wife said, we practice everyday. Another glass ceiling in the sporting world was crushed.
