The other day when I posted my gear container, one of the fans mentioned wanting a Scentlok with the Carbon Filter in the lid.I just wanted to show yall how I accomplish the carbon Filter part in my container (which would work in any container) for only $13. Supplies Needed: -2 container of activated carbon (found at local Walmart in the pet isle, its used with fish tanks so check near the fish supplies) / Cost: $6.37/ea -1/4 yard of a breathable material (I used this mesh that only cost me $0.37 (I was originally gonna try pantyhose but was afraid it would tear too easily) Steps (even though pictures are pretty self explanatory): 1. Fold fabric in half 2. Sew Side edges together and along the fold at the bottom (this just ensures that none of the carbon pellets fall out, as they are small) 3. Hand wash bag in unscented detergent and air dry 4. Fill up bag with activated carbon pellets and tie off the top 5. Throw in your container Now you can probably get by the whole season like this. Eventually the microscopic holes in the carbon that captures the scent will get filled, so just open the bag, empty, and refill. If you want to do this halfway through the season, that is fine. Heres a couple of tips: -Once the bag is tied off, go outside and smack the bag for several minutes. This releases most of the excess dust out of the bag (think dust as in the bottom of a grill charcoal bag). This keeps the dust from getting all over everything. -When doing this, wear some type of facemask (or like me do it in front of a high speed fan that blows the dust away from you). You absolutely do not want this dust in you lungs (think coal miners with black lung). -This will work in any container, however it will work better in an airtight container. This is because the carbon pellets continue to absorb odors and if air is constantly allowed in it will just continue to capture odors that are introduced. Like I said, this is the method I use. I juts throw this in my container on top of whatever I have in there. Hope yall enjoy and good luck this season. {Neal}
