The out-of-contract quartet have been deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho as he continues to revamp his squad ahead of his first season back at Stamford Bridge Paulo Ferreira, Yossi Benayoun, Florent Malouda and Ross Turnbull have been released by Chelsea after their contracts expired, the club have confirmed. Ferreira made 217 appearances in nine years with the Blues, playing a role in three Premier League title wins and the Champions League triumph of 2012. Benayoun arrived in the summer of 2010 as the replacement for Joe Cole but failed to command a regular place in the side, suffering with injuries and spending time on loan with Arsenal and West Ham. Malouda was lured from then-French champions Lyon in 2007 and won domestic and European honours at Stamford Bridge, but spent last season in exile training with the reserves. Turnbull was signed from Middlesbrough in 2009 as a backup goalkeeper to Petr Cech, and made just 19 appearances in four years in west London.
