The protest brought students from the four Balearic Islands to Palma at the start of what is indefinite strike action, many of them supported by their parents. The demonstration had been organised by the STEI, CCOO and UGT unions, as well as the Students Assembly which has been actively planning this strike action since June. Biel Caldentey from the STEI union said, ‘We have given a lesson of diplomatic dignity, a lesson in responsibility’. The demonstrators have started an indefinite strike calling the resignation of the Education Councillor, José Ramón Bauzá, because he wants to bring in education from Opus Dei for the Baleares. typicallyspanish/spain-news/islasb/Education_row_rises_as_students_start_indefinate_strike_action_on_the_Baleares_Islands.shtml
