The second National Convention of Indian origin Jews will be organised on October 14 in collaboration with Municipality of Yeruham, other Indian community organisations and Indian Embassy in Israel. Various social-cultural programs will bepart the program starting 4 pm onwards. There is about 85,000 people of Indian origin jewish community in Israel. About 8000-10,000 people are expected to take part in the event. The first such National Convention was organised in Ramle on September 23 last year and was attended by more than 6,000 people. The main attraction of the event will be various folk dance performances by a 16-member Indian folk troupe – Panghat Performing Arts Group. The Group will perform different Indian folk dances like Garbo, Dandiya Rass, Talvar Rass, Tippani, Ghumro, Garbi, Mix Rass, Rathva and Diya/Mandvi Garbo most of which belong to the Kutch region of Gujarat. Popular for its authenticity of style, music, dance and costumes, the troupe has participated and performed in many international folklore festivals in more than 15 different countries including USA, UK, France, Spain, Greece, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Russia, Poland, Turkey, South Africa and Singapore in the last 13 years.
