The second oddly named political figure from Washington, D.C. to be profiled here on the site, Cuno Hugo Rudolphs political claim-to-fame rests on his service as the president of the Washington, D.C. Board of Commissioners. As the governing body of the District of Columbia from 1874 to 1967, the Board of Commissioners was made up of three members, of which one would be elected as President of the Board. Maryland native Cuno H. Rudolph served as president of this Board on two separate occasions, holding the post for a total of eight years, 1910-13 and 1921-1926. Born and raised in Baltimore, Rudolph attended the Bryant and Stratton College and migrated to Washington, D.C. in 1889. He was affiliated with the hardware business for three decades and was also a prominent banker both before and after his service on the Board of Commissioners, being the vice-president of the Union Savings Bank and president of the Second National Bank of Washington.
