The shroud will be lifted. READ Isaiah 25:6-8 6 On this mountain, the Lord of heavenly forces will prepare for all peoples a rich feast, a feast of choice wines, of select foods rich in flavor, of choice wines well refined. 7 He will swallow up on this mountain the veil that is veiling all peoples, the shroud enshrouding all nations. 8 He will swallow up death forever. The Lord God will wipe tears from every face; he will remove his peoples disgrace from off the whole earth, for the Lord has spoken. REFLECT These verses are an indication of what Heaven will be like: no hunger or thirst or wanting for anything, no death or sorrow or pain or disgrace. And the shroud will be lifted. Wait...what? The shroud--or sheet--that Isaiah talks about here is the fact that we cant see clearly. Have you ever tried to look through a sheer curtain? You cant see very clearly, can you? Thats about how clearly we can see God. And, more to the point, thats all the more clearly we can see God in others. Its this inability to see God in others that keeps us from living at peace with others. When we look at others, what we see most clearly is how we are different. In Heaven, the shroud will be lifted, allowing us to see God clearly, and giving us the ability to live in harmony with others. RESPOND To continue this metaphor, our vision is blurry, but it still exists. We can, in fact, see God in others--in every person we encounter. Sometimes, it takes a hard look, but God is there. As Christians, we are called to look for God in everybody, as we are all created in Gods image. RELATE If todays devotion spoke to you in a particular way and you feel led to share your thoughts with others, please do so.
