The silent witness and absolutely all that is witnessed are actually, seamlessly, ONE in the witnessing. Seeing only the witness as real and as being who you are, and seeing everything that is witnessed as not you and as completely unreal, is not at all the real deal! It is expressing a belief in a very spiritualized but still separate, self-entity. When someone is stuck in this view it is a very difficult one to shake them from, because it has been adopted and strongly identified with as a new and impressive spiritual ego. It is like a person who has stopped climbing while only half way up the mountain at a base camp but who has convinced themselves that they have reached the top of the mountain! The last thing they want to hear is that there is more climbing to do!
