The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way. Psalm 37:23 The Mona Lisa was not painted by da Vinci impatiently throwing a bunch of paint at a canvas and seeing how it landed. Neil Armstrong did not wake up one morning and hastily say I think Ill drop by the moon this afternoon. Gone with the Wind was not filmed over a leisurely weekend when there was nothing else to do and War and Peace was not carelessly jotted down on a post-it note. There were no short-cuts to any of these great works of art, literature, film and human accomplishment. No - each one of these great accomplishments contained a multitude of little steps that culminated into some grand achievement. I used to think that discovering Gods perfect plan for my life involved getting someWERE or accomplishing someTHING, but the older I get the more I realize that the great masterpiece of Gods will for my life is not contained in one certain event or achievement, rather it is discovered in the everyday little steps that He directs. Gods perfect will for our lives is not so much in the finished painting, but rather in the daily submission to the gentle strokes that are guided by His creative and loving hand. When we allow Him to have complete control and submit ourselves to His vision, then we can rest in knowing that we will never miss a thing that He intends - and what God intends always ends up being a masterpiece.
