The subconscious/dreamworld seems to have so much more inertia than the conscious mind. Its fluctuations are spread out over a longer period, reminiscent of electric companies that spread the excess cost of a particularly high-usage month over the following six months so as not to shock you. Its a wonderfully gentle curvy wave with few sharp edges, but the experience of it around significant life-changes can feel really very disconnected. Your dreamworld is still completely immersed in the past as the present, while your waking conscious state is well past the veil of that change. So interesting... I can see why people get insomnia; perhaps for some of them at least, their dreamworlds inertia is that much greater, and it isnt just dreamworld. Falling and rising to and fro are very subconscious-dominated, or at least immersive. Dominant is the wrong word, since its only through the absence of conscious mind-domination that the more subtle subconscious can be revealed like stars hidden behind a gradually dispersing veil of suffocating light pollution. Interesting though.
