The thing we pilots care most about during approach is continuous - TopicsExpress

The thing we pilots care most about during approach is continuous descent! It should be the goal of each controller to ensure that this happens, any spool-up of the engines to provide thrust during level flight is a waste of money, fuel and most important the waste of the environment we all live in! Normally we descend with about 1500-2500 ft per minute, so if were at FL140 and your lower limit is FL100, make sure to switch us over well in advance since it can sometimes take more than a minute to get through to the next controller...! We all do good work, but we can all become even better and think ahead!
