The typical indian behaviour (this is a throwback bcos my tamizh is the bomb now) X: so can u speak tamil? Me: I only started communicating in the language after high school. So, my tamizh is stained with an accent. Senang cerita, my tongue is not soft yet. But I know how to read and write in tamizh. X: HAHAHAHA!! who do u think u r. U ashamed to admit that u r tamilian? U think speaking english makes u greater than us? Perasan vellakarechi.. (continues to mock how I pronounce some words in tamizh) Dear X, my proficiency in speaking Tamizh is not a marker to justify how much of an Indian I am. Neither does ur ability to communicate in tamil make u any better of an indian than i am. I grew up amongst friends of different races and nationalities, so English was the most effective way of communication. If you want a person to speak in tamizh, encourage them. When u continue mocking, people will just give up on the language. (Thank god im a muka tembok, so whatever u do or say does not affect me). Being a tamilan is not only defined by how well u speak tamil but also ur actions and morals. Anf if I truly were a vellakarechi, my mum wouldnt have even taken the effort to send me to tamizh classes (I was bullied and teased then too). So senang cerita, please think twice before you mock another perasan vellakarechi like me, instead encourage and guide them, because when a mat salleh says yenn paer Peter, you tepuk tangan like its some Oscar award winning performance. Afterall, I too am a protector of the Sandhana Dharma. (Wait do u even know what that means)
